Ian was born and raised in British Columbia. Though he grew up in the lower mainland, he had close family in Kamloops, making it a second home.
Ian obtained a Bachelor of Arts from Simon Fraser University in 2012 and then moved to South Korea where he was an ESL teacher for six years. Ian returned to Canada in 2018 and pursued further education at the University of British Columbia, where he graduated with High Distinction in 2021. Upon graduation, Ian worked as a vocational counselor in Richmond, BC, assisting individuals with developmental disabilities achieve employment goals.
Ian moved to Kamloops in 2022 to attend law school at Thompson Rivers University, graduating in 2025. Ian joined Morelli Chertkow as a summer student after his second year in law school and returned to complete his articles. Ian was called to the British Columbia Bar in May 2026.
In his free time, Ian enjoys playing music, hiking, and snowboarding.
