Shazia was born and raised in Kamloops and is a first-generation Mauritian-Canadian. She spent six summers during her post-secondary education gaining experience at a local law firm. After obtaining her law degree from the University of Calgary, she returned to Kamloops to proudly serve the community that shaped her. She also operates Morelli Chertkow’s Ashcroft office.
Shazia practices primarily in the areas of corporate and commercial law, real estate transactions, and estate planning and administration. She enjoys helping clients navigate through complex legal issues with clarity and confidence, making the process feel less daunting.
Giving back to the community has always been a passion of Shazia’s. While attending TRU’s Bachelor of Business Administration program, she volunteered with multiple community outreach projects through Enactus Thompson Rivers, United Way, and the Heart & Stroke Foundation. During law school, she volunteered with the Students Legal Assistance Program. She currently coaches the Special Olympics Powerlifting Team and sits on the board of two non-profit societies.
In her spare time, Shazia enjoys powerlifting, backcountry expeditions, paddle boarding, and exploring the outdoors with her dog, Waffle.
