Shazia was born and raised in Kamloops and is a first-generation Mauritian-Canadian. She spent six summers during her post-secondary education working and gaining experience at a local law firm. After obtaining her law degree from the University of Calgary, she returned to Kamloops to complete her Articles. Shazia was called to the British Columbia Bar in May of 2021.

Giving back to the community has always been a passion of Shazia’s. While attending Thompson Rivers University for her Bachelor of Business Administration, she volunteered with multiple community outreach projects through Enactus Thompson Rivers, United Way and the Heart & Stroke Foundation. During law school, she volunteered with the University of Calgary’s Legal Aid Clinic.

In her spare time, Shazia enjoys powerlifting, exploring the outdoors and spending time with her family and friends. She also currently volunteers as a coach for the Special Olympics Powerlifting Team and is a volunteer Director of two non-profit societies.
